We recently had the opportunity to enjoy one of Disney's newer Character breakfasts, the Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk resort. This breakfast is a fixed price meal approximately $34 for adults and $20 for children or 1 table service credit if on the dining plan. The breakfast starts with your choice of  fresh fruit salad or mixed berry parfait along with a frying pan full of assorted pastries and then you get your choice of an entree.  The Character meet and greets included Disney characters including Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Ariel and Prince Eric. We had a lot of  fun with each character who stopped by our table. They each took time with us and made sure we were having a good time. I personally enjoy this type of character meal. I don't feel rushed at a buffet, afraid I might miss a character making their rounds. We just sit back, relax, enjoy the food and atmosphere.

Mixed berries yogurt parfait. I think this was supposed to have a Sebastian cookie on top but they must have been out.

Assorted pastries in a frying pan. I love how they were themed to match the characters. Including Rapunzel's Sun cookie and a clam shaped pastry for Ariel.

Rapunzel's Sun Cookie. This was flaky, buttery, a little almond tasting and delicious.

Clam shell pastry. This had a wonderful raspberry filling.

Your meal comes with an option of beverages including coffee, juice, milk. I chose to pay the extra for the Little Mermaid punch because it included your choice of a light up Ariel or Pascal and I couldn't pass that up.

For my entree I picked the King Triton’s Shipwreck al Forno, a calzone stuffed with soppressata (an Italian salami), bacon, sausage, and cheeses served atop an Italian Sunday Gravy. This was so delicious and was a lot of food. Pizza for breakfast? Yes please!

Chris got the Royale Breakfast, Oak-Grilled Steak, Cheesy Egg Torte, Asparagus, Crispy Onions and Roasted Potatoes. He enjoyed this a lot.

All of the character interactions were very fun. Each character is announced individually as they enter the dinning room. Once all the characters were in the restaurant they did a fun parade around the room in which children were invited to join in and everyone is encouraged to wave their napkins in the air. Following the parade the characters come around one by one  stopping at each table .  Speaking of tables on each table there is a map you can take with you to fill out  on your Disney World adventures as well as an autograph card for all the characters at breakfast. I thought this was such a fun souvenir.

Beaches & Cream at Disney's Beach Club

Beaches & Cream Disney World
Living in Orlando we have  our pick of fancy signature restaurants for a romantic Valentine's dinner but every year I pick the same place, Beaches & Cream at Disney's Beach Club. I personally feel there is something very romantic sharing a hamburger and sundae with my Valentine. I love the nostalgic soda fountain atmosphere with the jukebox playing oldies.

French Fries topped with Brown Gravy and Shredded White Cheddar Cheese
We chose to split the patty melt. They serve a pretty tasty patty melt here with lots of cheese. We also chose to upgrade our fries to the sock hop fries: French Fries topped with Brown Gravy and Shredded White Cheddar Cheese. I am a fan of poutine and these were yummy.
Beaches & Cream at Disney's Beach Club
We always get the same dessert here the Milky Way Sundae: Three Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Caramel, and Whipped Cream topped with Dark and White Chocolate Shavings and a Cherry! Delicious!

Around the holidays you are sure to find specialty gifts in the hotel gifts shop in case you forgot to pick up something for that special someone.
Florida Sunset
I couldn't help but post a picture of tonight's sunset because after all Florida sunsets are also pretty romantic.

Paddlefish Review

Paddlefish at Disney Springs
We attended the opening day of Paddlefish, formally known as Fulton's Crab House,  at Disney Springs. The restaurant has been closed for months as it underwent renovations both inside and out. It was worth the wait! The inside is stunning! With the neutral colors everything seems bright, fresh and relaxing. We were given a table next to one of the many windows with a peaceful view of the water. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and our food was phenomenal. We had a great first impression  and enjoyed the changes.

Chris was very happy they kept the lobster corn dogs on the menu. They were one of our favorite appetizers from Fulton's menu.

Clams Sofrito. Cedar key Littlenecks, sofrito, tomatilo, chipotle butter and linguine. Chris enjoyed this.

The Lobster Roll. This was one of the best lobster rolls I have ever eaten. They did not skimp on the lobster.

Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs

After months of being closed for renovations Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs has finally reopened as what is now officially called Planet Hollywood Observatory . We decided to try it for lunch. The outside has been redone to fit in with the Disney Springs theme.

The three story interior has been updated as well. While movie memorabilia can still be found on the walls the restaurant now has a modernized, less cluttered feel. (I personally did not mind the cluttered look).

The menu has not been left out of the updates either. You will still find old favorites like the L.A Lasagna (a delicious fried lasagna with Bolognese meat sauce, yum!) but there are plenty of new  options as well. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has added his culinary artistry to the menu with his Big Bite Burgers and Knuckle Sandwiches. We each decided to head to flavor town and pick items from Guy’s creations.

The Pimento Grilled Cheese. A triple stacked grilled cheese with six cheese mac-n-cheese and pimento cheese between three slices of garlic-buttered sourdough bread. We loved the flavor combination of this sandwich! The fries were really tasty also!

The Championship Pulled Pork Sandwich. Bourbon brown sugar barque sauce, slaw on a garlic-buttered brioche bun.
I’ve looked forward to seeing the new dessert menu since coming soon ads have been showing outrageous looking shakes for months! We choose the Super Nova Shake in the Strawberry Big Bang. Oh My! Let me tell you not only was the wow factor of this dessert out of this world, but the flavor was amazing as well!
